12U Champs!!


Coach Curt Johnson took his 12 U High Desert Heat basketball team to a tough more competitive league this fall in central Phoenix. Having spent several season playing in YMCA leagues throughout the valley and putting his team in numerous AAU tournament through spring and summer this year. Coach Curt decided to test his team with an entrance into the Excel Youth Sports League in central phoenix which ran every Saturday from September 5th thru October 31. This league has some of the best team from all over the valley that participate in the highly competitive tournament circuit.

The Heat Club is proud to announce that his team was recently crowned 12 U Champions of the Excel Youth Sports League. After running the gauntlet and going undefeated during the regular season and dominating the fall season ending tournament. Winning the tournament championship game 33-17 over the West Valley Magic.

Team members are Brian Cox, Nick Johnson, Matt Downey, Matt Webb, Kalor Ruiz and Brian Aden not picture is Nick Braun.

Meadowlark Lemon, Harlem Comedy All-Stars Coming to Anthem


Meadowlark Lemon the “Clown Prince of Basketball” is bringing his famous half-court hook-shot and his comical antics to Anthem on Saturday.
Best known for his years with the Harlem Globetrotters, Meadowlark now tours with the famous Harlem Comedy All-Stars. The Harlem All-Stars will be the featured attraction at The Boulder Creek High School Gym On October 24th, at 6pm.
The Harlem All-Stars vs. Anthem Generals is a benefit game showcasing amazing basketball tricks and skills, plus plenty of hi-jinks and comedic hoop antics — great family entertainment. All of the proceeds go to benefit High Desert Heat Basketball Club.
